Plan Documents
Plan Documents are project planning artifacts. They help teams capture direction, requirements, briefs, notes, and other project context before or alongside execution work.
Documents live under Plan next to Requests. They are not tasks or subtasks.
Documents List
The Documents surface shows planning documents in a table-style list with grouped sections, compact metadata, and row indicators.
Document rows can show:
- title
- status
- visibility
- owner
- updated date
- comment and attachment counts
Current visible document statuses are Draft and Active. Current visibility labels are Team + Guests and Team Only.
When you have access, you can adjust document Status and Visibility directly from the list. You can also create a new folder while creating a new document.
Document Details
Opening a document shows a details panel with the same general interaction pattern used by task details.
Depending on your access, the panel can include:
- title and rich-text description
- document metadata
- watchers
- checklist items for document completion
- attachments
- comments
- private Journal entries
- Activity
The header Comment action moves you to the comment composer. The header Journal action opens a quick-add Journal entry.
Comments And Journal
Document comments are for shared discussion. Comments can use mentions when the mentioned person has access to the project.
Document comments can include pasted images inline where the comment composer supports it. Those images remain comment attachments and can still be previewed or downloaded.
Document Journal entries are private notes for the person who creates them. Journal entries are not comments, do not support mentions, and are not time tracking.
Checklists And Attachments
Document checklist items help track document completion. They are not execution tasks.
Document attachments are supporting files for the document. Comment attachments stay attached to the relevant comment thread.
Source Previews
Plan Documents can preview common source files so teams can scan supporting material without leaving the document panel.
Current preview formats include:
- Markdown
- plain text
- Word documents
- CSV
- TSV
- XLSX
Source previews are best effort. The original uploaded file remains the source of truth for exact formatting, calculations, and full-fidelity review.
Current Focus
The current user-facing workflow is the Documents list, document details panel, and fullscreen source reading where available.
